A New Chapter
For those of you reading who have found yourself here for the first time, then hello 🙂 I am delighted that you are here. My name is Karla and I am the owner of this business called Paper Skeleton (find out more about the reason behind the name here). I design and make stationery for weddings and events, but mainly for weddings, and I would not change my job for the world.
My background is in Graphic Design, 11 years to be precise, and I am happy to say that I still LOVE this path that I have found myself on. Don’t get me wrong I have had my moments, there have been lows but also extreme highs, but through all of this, I can safely say that starting my own business has been the best decision I have ever made!
Two years ago I decided to leave the ‘safety net’ of a full time job and make my side project ‘Paper Skeleton’ my full time job. Looking back this was not the most sensible decision at that time, I had a mortgage and bills to pay like everyone else, and at that time I only had done stationery for friends, family and about three ‘real life’ clients. Why the urgency? I hated my full time job, what on paper was once a dream job for me, became a nightmare very very quickly, it made me miserable. So I HAD to make it work. I got back in touch with previous freelance design clients and found some design projects that would financially see me through for a few months, so I handed in my notice, and that was that.
For the past two years I have been so overwhelmed by how many couples I have had the pleasure of working with. The complete fear of starting out and not knowing if it was going to work or not to now being able to work and create with so many lovely people really does mean the world to me. It has and continues to be a complete learning curve, I have got to know more about how my systems should be working, what services work for me and what don’t, what products I want to focus on and the style in which I continue to develop.
So this leads me to today, the day I have launched my brand new website… YESSS!! Which not only has had a brand new make over, but now also functions in a way that will work better for you. The design and style compliments the more mature designs that I have been developing and the minimal feel mirrors the designs in which I create for my collections. Meaning that the content will be easier to navigate.
I have also worked really hard at picking apart my current systems and figuring out the most efficient way to go forward so I have now fine tuned Paper Skeleton’s systems, online and behind the scenes to ensure a smooth and easy experience for you and a more efficient way of working for me. This will be easier to navigate online, in particular when looking to order from my tailored collections. The shop for ordering samples is now a lot simpler, and then following on from this the ordering process if you wish to proceed is too a lot easier. Have a look around at the tailored collections and let me know what you think.
The imagery online and on my social media channels are now going to be better quality, clearer to show the products and inline with my updated brand, taking inspiration from the style or mood of each collection.
